Sony Alpha Photo Contest

So yesterday i attended the Sony Alpha Roadshow which was help at Mid Valley which was showcasing 2 things, the A200 and also the Sony 300mm f2.8 lens (which is a beauty). I'm not turning this site into a tech site or anything but seriously Sony Alpha has really evolved from first releasing the A100, then the A700 (which i am currently using) and now the A200.

And if you're thinking of getting into the world of DSLR, a Sony Alpha A200 ain't a bad one to start with.
I didn't take much pictures of the new products up for show (which i should have) but the sole reason i was there was to meet the Alpha Community who were all there to participate in a photo shoot out contest which was waving a lens as the grand prize.

Well obviously i didn't win, but i would like to share some pictures that i took. We were given a few themes where we were only supposed to choose one. I took a few and here they are.
The Theme for this photo was "Children"
The main idea to this photo was to show that there's no better love than your mother's love. and here in the picture you can see the young boy's arm around his mom, symbolizing security, just in case if you were wondering, this was the photo i submitted.
The theme to this photo was "Plants"
Theme to this picture was "Bridges"
And my last picture, the theme to this picture was "Taxi Stand"
And Here's a Group Pic of the Community (Pic Courtesy of SmashPop)

JIN MC (no not me!)

Jin, the Emcee, otherwise known as 100 Grand Jin came in to the studios today for an interview with the Morning Crew and also to judge the current Year End Rap Up contest which hitz.fm was currently running.

Jin aka Au-Yeung Jin was born in Miami, Florida and at a young age aspired to become a professional rapper one day. Well he's done paying his dues because he's world known for his freestyle battles and landed a record deal with Ruff Ryders and also played minor roles in movies such as 2 Fast 2 Furious.

He's now in Malaysia to promote his latest album entitled "ABC" for "American Born Chinese" and detoured to hitz.fm for a quick shoutout and if you caught the interview this morning, you'd have to agree with me that he's one heck of a cool guy!

And last but not least, this is JIN and Jin, lol

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! Finally a brand new year to look forward to! so how did you usher int he New Year? I hope the jam didn't discourage you to head on out to a hotspot to let loose and party the night away.

I attended the H20 Year End Beach Blast Party as my station was the official radio station that was pushing the entire event. the event was featuring artistes like The Desserters, Bttersweet, Aseana Percussion Unit and the main event of the night, The Riley & Durrant Sound System featuring Gina Dootson and Switch MC.

We were hanging out at the VIP area so basically drinks were free flow (until we finished them). but nonetheless it was something different than how I usually would usher in the new year. i'm talking about massive jams, or going to an enclosed club and hear the fireworks outside, or maybe cramp yourself together with 10,000 other strangers to get a glimpse of the city fireworks.
Adam and Nat were the hosts for the night
and of course, we've got friends who were there to party along as well. spot yourself!

Dear Santa

Dear Santa,

I'm really disappointed that i didn't get any gifts for Christmas this year, i usually do. what did i do to deserve such treatment? have i been a naughty boy? i'm pretty sure that i've been good this year...honest!
i've been really good to my friends
i'd always made sure i took care of them(especially him) when they're drunk
I've also stopped partying a lot and stopped drinking for a while now...
and i've also kicked the habit of gambling when i know that i'm just not good enough in playing poker
so can i please be taken off the naughty list and be in line to sit on your lap for next Christmas Santa? pweaaseeee? :)

As the year closes in, we reflect on what has impacted us the most during the entire year, both in the negative and also the positive way. with that, we'll make resolutions in preparation for a better year ahead. with that i wish everyone a very Happy New Year to come, apologies for all the troubles i might have caused and hope you make the best of 2008!

Happy New Year Everyone!

Have Yourself, a Merry Little Christmas

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the yuletide gay
From now on our troubles will be far away

Once again as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more

Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

Once again as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more

Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

~Mel Torme~

To everyone who's celebrating Christmas, i would like to wish a you a Merry Little Christmas and a happy new year!

Football Weekend: Man U 1 Liverpool 0

I just got back from Maxis on the ball event and what an experience it was. i'm a total blur case when it comes to English football but who cares, got some VIP passes(which wasn't really useful anyways) and a few friends to go watch the game between Manchester United and Liverpool, the two biggest rivals in British football, correct me if i'm wrong. Anyways, Maxis on the ball was held at the Sunway Lagoon Amphitheater and a giant screen was built to simulate a stadium for all football fanatics to come together and watch the game and support their favourite teams.
here were the Liverpool Supporters
Manchester United supporters
and also some showgirls who dressed to kill the crowd
We were also joined by Ray Wilkins and Lee Sharp who gave their views on how the game would end up that night. Both predicted Manchester United to take the win.

At the end of the night, Manchester United took home the win with one goal to nothing. The atmosphere was astounding and it is really an experience to watch football with a full on crowd who were all die hard fans of their respective teams. the cheers, and jeers simulated an almost stadium like effect for everyone.

Kat De Luna

Kathleen Emperatriz de Luna otherwise known as Kat de Luna in the music scene paid a visit to Malaysia's Number 1 hit Radio station on Friday. If you don't know who she is, maybe the song 'Whine up' might ring a bell.
I'm quite familiar with her single 'Whine up' and i personally think its a very catchy song. very techno-ish. Try checking out her official website if you have the time at www.katdeluna.com
In her interview she did mention that she is the only female artiste to break out from the Dominican Republic music scene and make it big internationally. Congratulations to her and we hope to see her back here again partying with us.

Rynn Lim's First Concert

Last Saturday, right after My Chemical Romance's Press Conference i headed down to the KL Convention Centre to meet up with fellow Alpha Members cause we were all invited by George Wong to shoot Rynn Lim's First Concert using our Sony Alpha Camera. And yes if you were wondering what camera i was using all this while to shoot all the pictures that i've used to post on this blog, its an Alpha A700 which is the latest edition to the Sony DSLR family.

I hardly listen to chinese music, but an opportunity to shoot a concert is definitely something i'll not forgo as i pretty much enjoy taking pictures of concerts. so we have it, Rynn Lim

one thing i like about chinese concerts is that they always have loads of costume changes and lost of backup dancers to complement them. i myself have not been to much chinese concerts, i think i can count all the chinese concerts i've been to with one hand, but all of those i attended were really good.

Ok Back to Rynn. His concert featured 3 guest appearances namely JJ Lin, A-Do and our very own Sheila Majid.

he reminds me of Hiro Nakamura
i can't comment much on the concert because i was mainly there to take pictures. but i'm sure it was good judging from the crowd response. And below is a group photo of the entire Alpha Team who was present that night to shoot the concert. Thanks to Smashpop for the photo.
can you spot me?

My Chemical Romance's Tour Schedule

this will be a short post, check out what i got from the band.....
this is the band schedule, otherwise known as a running sheet. look at how detailed it is stating the weather, timing and etc. on the sheet it was noted that MCR starts performing at 8.15pm. Well they started sharp at 8.17pm, that's punctual enough!

a lot of people i know came later at about 9pm thinking that it'll be the usual long wait before the main act comes out to perform. well they were wrong.

The Black Parade

Yes from the topic i'm sure you know what i'm talking about. My Chemical Romance, Live in Kuala Lumpur 2007, what a way to end the year of 2007 by bringing down one of the biggest rock bands in the world.

The first My Chemical Romance song that caught my attention a few years back was their song entitled "Helena". well, i watched it on MTV and seriously thought that Helena was one of the best music videos ever made! it was freaking awesome! probably because i was a lil into the dark fashion attire at that point.

But none the less, a few years later The Black Parade swomped its way out to record stores earning the band several Platinum and Gold titles in their albums sales. Yes they're the BIG GUNS now, and they are taking Stadium Merdeka down!

Nat and Adam were the hosts for the night
Being in their already hectic schedule, the band still made the effort to actually take time off from their prep time to do an autograph session with their fans.
The crowd clocked in at over 18,000 at Stadium Merdeka, all eagerly waiting to see their favorite band come on stage to strut their stuff for a 1 hour 30 minutes concert (and now i know you're probably wondering why i'm writing so much and not getting to the good stuff)

Alright......Let's all go to the Black Parade with Gerard as our Leader!

meet mikey!
i went to the concert, looking forward to hear a couple of my favorites such as Helena, I don't Love you, I'm Not Ok and of course, The Black Parade and when they did, it was awesome! Watching them play live is indeed better than the record itself. i can't imagine how the band goes on non stop for an hour and the half with nothing but just pure adrenaline pumping showmanship. And of course when he started to sing the crowd's favorite...
the crowd just joined in and think to themselves, the long wait all this while was way worth it. i hope you've enjoyed this post of mine. do leave a shoutout if you attended the concert!
and if MCR were to come down for a second concert, i'd definitely be the first in line to join the Parade again! cheerz!
